YouTube and Emirates prize goes to The Guilt director David Victori in Venice; Michael Fassbender and Ridley Scott to act as executive producers on next film.
Spanish filmmaker David Victori’s short film The Guilt has won the Your Film Festival prize of $500,000 at the Venice International Film Festival.
Victori will now be able to create original online content for YouTube with Ridley Scott and Michael Fassbender acting as executive producers.
The winner was selected from 15,000 submissions. Scott Free originally narrowed the search to 50 semi-finalists and the YouTube community chose the final ten films. Fassbender and Scott were among the jurors.
Jury member Michael Fassbender said: “Choosing a Your Film Festival winner from the ten finalists was a tough decision. They all showed such creativity and a strong understanding of the filmmaking process. David is clearly a talented director and I can’t wait to work with him and Ridley on his new YouTube project.”
The Guilt, which folllows a man hell-bent on revenge after the murder of his wife, can be viewed here.
