Seven Stars Film Studios chairman Bruno Wu has lined up Jake Eberts to produce and Jeremy Thomas to act as consultant on the English-language China-US production.

Shen Yuhe will write the screenplay about the ruthless Empress Dowager Cixi and her control of the Qing Dynasty at a time of transformation in China’s history.

SSFS is developing the story with Jake Eberts’ joint venture partner Allied Productions East label. Production is earmarked for the fourth quarter 2013. The producers are out to directors.

“This is a perfect project to come from Seven Stars Film Studios,” Wu said. “It tells a distinctly Asian story, and by working with creative talent such as Jake, Jeremy and Shen Yuhe we are confident the movie will excite and resonate with audiences across the world.”
