StudioCanal will co-finance, handle UK distribution and take on international sales for Michael Winterbottom’s Paul Raymond biopic King of Soho, to star Steve Coogan.

Film4 developed and co-finances the story of the porn kingpin.
Katherine Butler, Film4’s Senior Commissioning Executive, added: “Paul Raymond was a larger-than-life character and I can’t think of a better combination of Matt, Michael and Steve, alongside anincredible line-up of British acting talent, to tell his extraordinary story. It’s so exciting to be working once again with Michael, Revolution and our great friends at StudioCanal, on a film which promise sto channel the essence of Paul’s life – flamboyant, unconventional, risqué, fun, and ultimately, bittersweet.”
As previously reported, the cast will also feature Anna Friel, Tamsin Edgerton and Imogen Poots.
Winterbottom and Andrew Eaton’s Revolution Films produces in association with Coogan’s Baby Cow. Other partners include Anton Capital Entertainment, S.C.A. and Lip Sync Productions.
Revolution’s Melissa Parmenter produces, with Film4’s Katherine Butler and StudioCanal’s Danny Perkins and Jenny Borgars executive producing.
