Principal photography started on Monday [22] in New Orleans on the high school football film When The Game Stands Tall, produced by Mandalay for Sony Pictures Worldwide Acquisitions (SPWA) and its AFFIRM Films division.

Starring Jim Caviezel, Laura Dern, Michael Chiklis and Alexander Ludwig star in the true story of De La Salle High School football Coach Bob Ladouceur, who led a struggling football team to success by teaching them to stand for something greater than winning.

The partners are targeting an autumn 2014 release. Thomas Carter directs from Scott Marshall Smith’s adapted screenplay of Neil Hayes’ book of the same name.

David Zelon produces for Mandalay. Peter Nelson and Rich Peluso will oversee for SPWA and AFFIRM Films.
