Nightmare on Elm Street star Thomas Dekker has signed on for Shawn Linden’s sophomore feature Rose By Name, which has begun shooting in Montreal.
Dekker is donning a new role in Montreal as principal photography begins on Rose by Name, a sophomore film from writer and director Shawn Linden, about a privileged young man whose life is upended by the sudden death of his mother.
A secret videotape made by his mother reveals that he is the product of rape; the journey to find his biological father teaches him that the truth can be far more bizarre than anything told around a campfire.
Matt Craven (Public Enemies) has also joined the cast of Rose by Name alongside Quebec thespian Julie Le Breton.
Produced by Kim Berlin and Susan Schneir for Suki Films, distributor Filmoption will release the picture in the autumn of 2012.
Linden’s debut feature was low budget feature Nobody. He also recently wrote another screenplay The Duelist (about the life and bloody times of a notorious modern-day gunslinger) which has been optioned by US production company Gold Circle Films.
