Adaptation of Department Q book series by Jussi Adler-Olsen.
TrustNordisk will kick off presales of The Keeper of Lost Causes at the Cannes market.
The film, to start shooting in October, is adapted from the first book of the Department Q series of bestsellers (more than 6m books sold worldwide) by author Jussi Adler-Olsen.
Screenwriter Nikolaj Arcel (The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo, A Royal Affair) adapts the script and Mikkel Norgaard [pictured] will direct. Norgaard’s credits include Clown — The Movie and the hit TV series Borgen.
The story is about two policemen — Carl Mørck and Hafez el Hassad — who investigate a woman’s dissapearance five years before, leading them to the train of a killer.
TrustNordisk CEO Rikke Ennis said: “You do not get a film project bigger than this. It is a perfect match between a bestselling author, a high profile production company and the best Nordic talents. The project is hyped even before the script is out and the figures of the book speak for themselves. This will be an international blockbuster.”
