EXCLUSIVE: The Weinstein Company (TWC) has launched into talks with buyers here on The Giver, its prestige new addition to the sales roster.

Jeff Bridges will star opposite Meryl Streep, one of the leads in TWC’s Monday world premiere of August: Osage County, with Brenton Thwaites, Alexander Skarsgard and Odeya Rush.

Phillip Noyce will direct the story, adapted by Michael Mitnic from Lois Lowry’s sci-fi drama about a conflicted young man charged with storing a neutered society’s memories.

Bridges, Neil Konigsberg and Nikki Silver produce.

The Weinstein Company will distribute and co-finances and co-produces The Giver with Walden Media. Production is scheduled to commence in early October.
