Belgian outfit to produce and finance both features.
Early in the market, aggressive Belgian outfit uMedia has announced it is to produce and finance the big screen version of French graphic novel series Black Op and an English language remake of the French hit Priceless, which starred Audrey Tatou.
The company’s founder and CEO Adrian Politowski [pictured] gave details of the new projects which join uMedia’s bulging development slate.
Black Op is billed as a Spy Games meets Bourne thriller, exposing how the CIA funded Russian mafia operations during the Cold War to destabilise the Communist regime from within. Years later, the covert partnership comes back to haunt them when Russian operatives on American soil rewrite the rules.
Priceless, originally starring Tatou, is to be remade in the English language by uMedia who has secured the film’s remake rights. The original was a smash hit in France and was sold to more than 60 international territories. The project is currently attaching a director to be announced in the coming weeks.
“We are building a strong slate to feed our growing production team and both of these titles are strong, commercial projects with solid international potential,” says Politowski. “It’s an exciting time for us at uMedia. Along with our remake of Johnnie To’s Don’t Go Breaking My Heart, we intend to quickly move these films and other similar features into production and quickly and efficiently out to market.”
