On Thurs (Dec 1), Andrzej Wajda will start filming his Lech Walesa biopic.

The film concentrates on the first 20 years of his career, starting in the 1970s. The former president and Nobel Peace Prize winner will be played by Robert Więckiewicz, currently seen in In Darkness.

Agnieszka Grochowska, another star of In Darkness, will play Danuta Wałęsa.

The film, titled Walesa, will shoot in Warsaw and Gdansk, in December and January and again in April and May. Some scenes will be shot in a Kawęczyn power plant.

Janusz Glowacki wrote the screenplay and Pawel Edelman will serve as cinematographer.

Akson Studio produces and the film has backing from the Polish Film Institute.
