The studio envisions a live-action adaptation centred on the character of Ichigo, a teenager with the ability to see ghosts who helps lost souls find peace.

VIZ Media, which purports to be the largest distributor and licensor of anime and manga in North America, has previously exploited the Bleach property in print, cable TV, video stream, VoD and consumer product iterations.

Peter Segal of Callahan Filmworks is producing with an eye toward directing. Dan Mazeau will write the screenplay and his upcoming credits include Wrath Of The Titans which Warner Bros is set to release on Mar 12.

Callahan Filmworks partner Michael Ewing and Masi Oka will produce will also produce alongside VIZ Productions’ Jason Hoffs. Branon Coluccio will serve as executive producer.
