Derek Yee's Protege, produced by Peter Ho-sun Chan, and The Warlords, directed and produced by Chan, dominated the nominations for this year's Hong Kong Film Awards.

Drug-trafficking thriller Protege picked up 15 nods, including best film and director, while The Warlords scored 13, including best film, director and two nods in the best actor category for Andy Lau and Jet Li.

Rounding out the best film category are Ann Hui's The Postmodern Life Of My Aunt, Johnnie To's Mad Detective and Yau Nai Hoi's Eye In The Sky. All five films in the best film category were also nominated for best director and best screenplay.

The awards, which have received $395,000 (HK$3.08m) from the Film Development Fund (FDF), will be held at the Hong Kong Cultural Centre on April 13, 2008.
