Indian company PVR Pictures has appointed Deepak Sharma as head of distribution – worldwide as part of a move to boost it presence in the distribution and production.

Sharma has held a variety of roles in film production, distribution, acquisition and syndication over a 17 year career. He was previously executive vice president and director at Zee Entertainment, where he was responsible for film production and distribution.

Uday Singh, CEO, PVR Pictures said, “As we increase our operations in the distribution and production space, overseas distribution would be a natural step ahead. Deepak, with rich exposure in production/distribution/exhibition business, will help us expand our international sales and distribution initiatives.”

Ajay Bijli, managing director at PVR, added: “We are operating in an increasingly competitive and dynamic environment; the road ahead is going to be very demanding and exciting hence we are adding impetus to our all round aggressive distribution plans for PVR Pictures.”
