The film was developed by Pathe and will shoot this summer in LA.
Rachid Bouchareb, whose Outside The Law will screen in competition on May 21, is going to the US for his next project. Belleville’s Cop is a comedy set in Los Angeles about an encounter between an Arab cop and a local one. Bouchareb co-wrote the script with 48 Hours screewriter Larry Gross.
The film was developed by Pathe and Tessalit Productions and will shoot this summer in LA.
Also on the docket for Bouchareb are a series of projects announced Thursday.
Among the films in development is French Connection, written by Bouchareb and set to be shot in Marseille and New York. The period drama looks at the import of opium from Indochina, its transformation into heroin and its export to the US.
Cleveland Derniere, co-written with Marion Doussot, is to be produced with Arte. The comic road movie will be set in the US and feature an American and an Arab woman.
Finally, The Fixer is being developed by Bouchareb’s Tessalit along with Mars Films and Bouchareb is also planning a film about the life of Angela Davis, co-written with Yasmina Khadra.
