Red Bull plans European monthly series of action sports movies

During the San Sebastian International Film Festival, Red Bull Media House announced its new European monthly series of action sports movie events. The Heroes By Nature series will start rolling out in 2013 with various partners.

The films will be about sports like surfing, mountain biking, snowboarding or climbing. Shorts and features will be presented on stage by cast and crew at one host city, and then that will be broadcasted live to other participating cinemas across Europe.

Also, Red Bull will work with San Sebastian to launch a new section at the festival next year, devoted to action sports, outdoor and adventure movies. This follows the company’s Big Friday event in San Sebastian this year whcih showed The Art of Flight 3D [pictured] and Storm Surfers 3D.

Sophokles Tasioulis, Head of Cinema & International Theatrical Sales at Red Bull Media House, says: “Heroes by Nature satisfies a growing demand for high quality action sports films on the big screen. Cinemas will turn into event locations and will give audiences an entirely different, immersive experience of the extreme sport world. We will bring new, young audiences to the movies and will provide filmmakers a prominent platform to showcase their films to a broader audience.”
