Reel Angels is launching as a new agency to represent female camera, lighting and sound crew members.
Lulu Elliott, who is a freelance camera operator and music video director, is officially launching the outfit on Internationl Women’s Day.
Elliott noted that the latest Skillset research published in 2010 showed female freelance contractors were only 7% of crew on camera and 1% on lighting.
Kate Kinninmont, CEO of Women in Film & TV, said: “‘Reel Angels is a positive agency working to support women in the industry, both through training and career opportunities. Their aim to increase the number of women in roles where they are currently underrepresented - such as camera, lighting, and sound - is one that we at WFTV (UK) wholeheartedly support.”
Reel Angels also hopes to develop training opportunities.
