Regent Releasing has picked up US rights from Halifax Film to Roger
Spottiswoode's drama Shake Hands With The Devil and will release in
the summer.
Roy Dupuis stars as Lieutenant-General Romeo Dallaire, a Canadian
former United Nations military officer who alerted the world to
ongoing atrocities in the war between African Hutu and Tutsi tribes.
Deborah Kara Unger also stars.
The picture was nominated for 13 Genie Awards in Canada and is based
on Dallaire's book of the same name.
'Regent is honoured to bring Lieutenant-General Dallaire's inspiring
story to US audiences this summer,' Regent's general manager and
executive vice president distribution and acquisitions Mark Reinhart
said. 'Shake Hands With The Devil illustrates a beautiful message of
humanity through the perseverance and courageous acts of one man.'
Reinhart brokered the deal with ICM.
