India’s Reliance MediaWorks (RMW) has appointed VFX supervisor George Murphy as chief creative officer.
Murphy received a best visual effects Oscar for his work on Forrest Gump and has also worked on Jurassic Park, Planet Of The Apes, King Kong, Starship Troopers and The Matrix Reloaded and The Matrix Revolutions.
In his new role he will work with studios, directors, producers and key creatives to help them achieve their vision on a wide range of projects.
“Building on RMW’s current strengths, we will be expanding and refining the offerings from our Burbank team, with an aim to establish a hub of exceptional expertise in the areas of visual effects, animation and digital content creation,” Murphy said.
RMW CEO Venkatesh Roddam added that the move should also give the Indian film industry greater access to globally recognised creative talents.
Murphy has previously worked with VFX houses such as Industrial Light & Magic, ESC Entertainment, Electronic Arts, WETA Digital, and Disney’s ImageMovers Digital.
