I don't think that Ed Vaizey was unsympathetic to the industry, much of the conference seemed to feel better leaving than they did arriving. Compared to us, most industries could justifiably feel aggrieved at how little support they get - certainly few other trades could expect to get help financing vanity projects with a low commercial imperative and a marketing cry of "you will like it because I say so", which is pretty much our mantra.

Perhaps we should just be grateful that anybody likes us enough to hold out their hand - and accept that if God gives us a lemon, we should take the lemon's aid.
