Revolver will distribute the film in Real D, IMAX 3-D and other digital 3-D formats across the UK on Feb 22, 2008.
The film, which was shown as a work in progress in Cannes, is directed by Catherine Owens and Mark Pellington. Owens was the band's visual content director for more than 15 years and Pellington previously directed their One video.
The project, filmed in South America during musical powerhouse U2's Vertigo tour, is the first live-action film ever shot, produced, and exhibited in digital 3-D.
The project is also backed by 3ality Digital and National Geographic Cinema Ventures.
3ality Digital's Jon Shapiro, Peter Shapiro, John Modell and Steve Schklair, along with Owens, produced the 3ality Digital presentation. 3ality Digital's Sandy Climan, Michael Peyser and David Modell are executive producers.
'We are excited to be working with U2 and National Geographic Entertainment in pioneering this film and to be presenting the innovative medium of digital 3D as the future of cinema,' said Revolver Entertainment's managing director Justin Marciano.
Revolver's other forthcoming releases include Zoo, YPF and Loose Change: Final Cut.
