The irreverent British comedian will return to the podium for the 69th Annual Golden Globe Awards following his much publicised, controversial turn as show host earlier this year.

Hollywood Foreign Press Association (HFPA) president Dr Aida Takla O’Reilly confirmed the news on Wednesday (16) after the Association voted overwhelmingly for Gervais to star in what will be his third appearance.

“Ricky is delighted to be coming back,” NBC svp of special events and late night programming Doug Vaughan said. “He said the Golden Globes show is the most fun he has ever had.”

The televised event will take place on Jan 15 2012 at the Beverly Hilton Hotel.
