Roger Ebert will receive the Mel Novikoff Award at the 53rd San Francisco International Film Festival.
The honour comes in recognition of an individual or institution “whose work has enhanced the film-going public’s knowledge and appreciation of world cinema.”
The veteran critic will receive the award on May 1. Confirmed guests include Jason Reitman and Terry Zwigoff and the programme will close with a screening of Erick Zonca’s thriller Julia. The festival is scheduled to run from April 22-May 6.
