Romanian portmanteau film Tales From The Golden Age, which had its world premiere in Un Certain Regard at Cannes this year, has been selected as the opening night film of the 15th annual Sarajevo Film Festival which takes place from August 12-20.
The film will screen in the same version as was seen at Cannes, including five episodes directed by Cristian Mungiu, Hanno Hofer, Razvan Marculescu, Constantin Popescu and Ioana Uricaru. A sixth episode also directed by Mungiu is also available.
The film will be screened to Sarajevo audiences both in the National Theatre and the Heineken Open Air Cinema; Mungiu and other film-makers from the film are scheduled to attend.
The crowd-pleasing film explores the urban myths of the last decade of Ceausescu’s regime in Romania, dubbed the Golden Age by the dictator’s propaganda machine.
