The German film industry rumour-mill has gone into overdrive during the Berlinale over who will replace Filmstiftung NRW chief Michael Schmid-Ospach when he departs in April.
According to local Berlin sources, Petra Muller, co-managing director of the Medienboard Berlin-Brandenburg, was rumoured to be one of two favourites to head up the $49.4m (€36m) fund, although she seemed to be dropping heavy hints at the Medienboard reception last weekend she was not planning to leave Berlin in the near future.
Meanwhile, sources in North Rhine-Westphalia suggest commissioning editor Gebhard Henke, from Cologne-based public broadcaster WDR has also been mooted.
