Director Neil Jones has confirmed that Rutger Hauer will be joining the cast of UK independent feature The Reverend, playing ‘The Withstander,’ aka ‘The Devil.’
He will play opposite Giovanni Lombardo Radice (The Omen) as ‘The Almighty.’
Hauer will film his scenes in Cardiff in mid-May.
Writer/director Jones said in a statement: “You have a wish-list of actors for every part in the movie and often,
especially on independent productions, that wish-list is very hard to materialise. But on this movie
we’ve done it. Every single actor I’ve had come on board was on that list, and getting confirmation
of Rutger was huge news for us.”
Stuart Brennan produces and also stars. He preivously worked with Jones on another Burn Hand Film Productions’ project, Risen: The Howard Winstone Story.
The cast also includes Tamer Hassan, Doug Bradley, and Emily Booth.
The story follows a new reverend who moves to a quiet country village where not everything is as innocent as it seems.
