Caplan to be based in London; Charlotte Mickie will remain in Toronto.
Sally Caplan has joined eOne’s international film division in the newly-created role of Managing Director.
Caplan, who takes the post effective immediately, will be based in eOne’s London office and report to eOne Filmed Entertainment COO Nelson Kuo-Lee. Charlotte Mickie, eOne Films International’s executive vice president, will continue to be based in Toronto and the Canada-based team will report directly to Caplan.
As MD of the international division, Caplan will be tasked with expanding the business working with producers, filmmakers and distributors in the UK, Europe and worldwide.
Most recently, Caplan had been running her own consultancy, after serving as head of the Premiere Fund of the UK Film Council, where she backed films including The King’s Speech, Salmon Fishing In The Yemen, Harry Brown, Nowhere Boy, StreetDance 3D, and Happy Go Lucky. Before joining the UKFC, she was president of Icon Film Distribution, senior VP of acquisitions and busines affairs at Momentum Pictures, and senior vice president of worldwide acquisitions at Polygram International/Universal.
“We’re thrilled to have Sally Caplan join the team as our international film business expands into the UK and the rest of Europe,” said Nelson Kuo-Lee. “Sally’s wealth of relationships with content owners will enhance eOne’s ability to acquire international rights to premium films and offer greater access to these projects at an earlier stage for our distribution operations in the UK, Canada, Australia and the Benelux.”
eOne has recently handled international sales for films including Oscar nominees Animal Kingdom and Incendies.
