Samuel Goldwyn Foundation president Samuel Goldwyn Jr has announced the five finallists for this year’s writing awards competition.
The finallists for the 2009 Samuel Goldwyn Writing Awards Competition, who each submitted feature-length screenplays, were chosen from a field of more than 150 submissions from eight University of California campuses.
They are: Jennifer Barclay (UCSD) for Prank; Rob Kotecki (UCLA) for Blowback; Eli Mael (UCLA) for Oaktown; Bradford Schmidt (UCLA) for Landsailor; and Joseph Tremba (UCLA) for The Shoeshine Girl.
The winners will be announced on November 2 and selected by a panel comprising Hilary Swank, producer Colin Callender, and story editor Catherine Tarr.
Previous recipients include: Francis Ford Coppola, Eric Roth, Allison Anders, Pamela Gray, and Jonathan Kellerman.
