Major Nordic distributor Sandrew Metronome continues to strike output deals with local production outfits, and this week its Finnish arm Sandrew Metronome Distribution Finland (SMDF) signed a three-year agreement with local production company Blind Spot Pictures.
The deal sees Sandrew Metronome take Nordic distribution rights to all films currently being developed by Petri Jokiranta and Tero Kaukomaa's Blind Spot Pictures. Sandrew Metronome earlier this year secured rights for the first Finnish Kung Fu film, Jade Warrior, from Blind Spot and further projects are expected to be announced early next year.
SMDF is one of the biggest distributors in Finland, and handles 20-30 films annually of which half of are Warner Bros titles and half Sandrew Metronome's own acquisitions. They signed a similar deal with Juha Wuolijoki's New York and Helsinki-based Snapper Films earlier this year.
Blind Spot Pictures' previous credits include films like Geography Of Fear, Cyclomania and Eila, and they are presently in postproduction on Aleksi Salmenpera's feature debut, Producing Adults, which is co-produced with Sweden's Sonet Film and regional fund Film I Vast.
