The 15th-annual Sarajevo Film Festival has announced the lineup of 10 films in its official competition section including two world premieres – First Of All, Felicia which marks the directorial debut of screenwriter Razvan Radulescu with Melissa de Raaf, and Slovenian Girl, the latest film from Damian Kozole (Spare Parts).
Also in the lineup of films from southeastern Europe are regional premieres of Cannes titles Dogtooth from Greece (which won Un Certain Regard in Cannes), Eastern Plays from Bulgaria (Quinzaine) and Ordinary People from Serbia (which was in Critics Week).
Receiving international premieres are Milos Pusic’s Autumn In My Heart from Serbia, Goran Devic and Zvonimir Juric’s The Blacks from Croatia, Antonio Nuic’s Donkey which is a co-production between Croatia and Bosnia/Herzegovina and Roland Varnik’s Transmission from Hungary.
The programme, selected by Elma Tataragic, also includes the regional premiere of Men On The Bridge, a Turkish film directed by Asil Ozge which had its world premiere at the Istanbul Film Festival in April.
The films compete for the Heart Of Sarajevo for best film (which comes with a €25,000 cash prize), a €10,000 special jury award, actor and actress prizes (€2,500 each), and FIPRESCI and CICAE awards.
This year’s festival runs from Aug 12-20.
