The Sarajevo Film Festival will open its 16th edition with the world premiere of Danis Tanovic’s highly anticipated Cirkus Columbia.
It marks Tanovic’s first film set in Bosnia and Herzegovina since Oscar-winning No Man’s Land.
Tanovic wrote the script with Ivica Dikic, adapting Dikic’s novel of the same name. The story is about a man who returns to Herzegovina from Germany with hopes of a new life.
The film is a co-production of Bosnia and Herzegovina, France, UK, Slovenia, Germany, Belgium and Serbia. The cast includes Miki Manojlović, Mira Furlan, Boris Ler, Jelena Stupljanin, Mario Knezović, Milan Štrljić, Svetislav Gončić, and Almir Mehić.
Sarajevo runs July 23-31.
