EXCLUSIVE: UK sales outfit acquires 3D family animation from producer of The Reef.
SC Films International has added 3D animation Jungle Shuffle to its slate for Cannes.
Set in a Mexican jungle, the film follows Manu, a Coati monkey and his side-kick Chuy, a spider monkey, who must rescue Princess Sacha from poachers and a crazed evil scientist.
Wonderworld Studios and Youngki Lee (The Reef) produce the script from Johnny Hartmann. Taedong Park and Mauricio De la Orta direct.
Currently in pre-production the film’s anticipated delivery is autumn 2013.
SC Films’ Simon Crowe said: “We are thrilled to continue our relationship with Youngki Lee. The Reef was a great experience for us all. Jungle Shuffle is a cute script featuring likeable, and familiar characters that I hope could lead to a new franchise.”
The Reef: High Tide (aka The Reef 2) is due to premiere at the London UK Film Focus (LUFF) in June.
Producer Youngki Lee added: “This will be the first Mexican-Korean co-production in CGI animation and promises to feature lively Latin music and dance. The exciting story attracted me to the project and our advanced Korean CGI technology will really let the vibrant jungle come to life.”
SC Films’ Cannes slate includes A Liar’s Autobiography, Outback, When The Lights Went Out and Cockneys vs Zombies.
