Munich-based sales company Studio 100 Film has unveiled first look images from English-language family animation North, ahead of the launch of sales at this year’s Cannes market (May 16-24).
The Norwegian animation is produced by PictoryLand and is inspired by Hans Christian Andersen’s fairy tale The Snow Queen. Directed by Bente Lohne and produced by Haakon Gundersen (Flight Of The Navigator, Free Jimmy), it follows the journey of the young girl Gerda, who embarks on a dangerous mission to save her best friend Kai from the Snow Queen’s icy grip.
Pixar co-founder and producer of the Academy Award-winning Toy Story Ralph Guggenheim is the consulting producer on North, which is currently in pre-production with delivery planned for Q4 2024, just in time for the holiday season.
Studio 100 Film will cover all worldwide film sales except for the Scandinavian territories and will introduce the first teaser and art designs at this year’s Cannes market.
Guggenheim commented: “There is a long tradition in animation of taking classic stories from the past and re-telling them in new ways for a new generation. North takes its inspiration from Hans Christian Andersen’s The Snow Queen, as a contemporary adventure for family audiences everywhere.”
Studio 100 Film is an international, independent sales agency for family movies. Previous titles marketed and sold by Studio 100 include Giants Of La Mancha, the Maya The Bee trilogy and Mia and me – The Hero of Centopia. Studio 100 also acts as a sales agency for selected third-party films such as, most recently, North, Being Betty Flood, or 100% Wolf.
