Director Damian Kocur and producers Mikołaj Lizut and Agnieszka Jastrzębska sat down with Screen International to discuss Under The Volcano, which is Poland’s entry for the Oscars’ international feature category. Watch above.

The Polish director follows up his debut Bread And Salt with a story following a Ukrainian family on holiday in Tenerife who discover they cannot return home due to the Russian invasion.

The filmmakers discuss how the cast abnd crew were personally effected by the invasion, and how Kocur helped his cast achieve naturalistic performances.

Following its premiere at Toronto, Under The Volcano also screened in competition in London and at the Polish Film Festival. The film is produced by Lizart Film and Hawk Art, with Salaud Morisset handling international sales.
