Check out a first look video introduction to Berlinale Competition title Wheel Of Fortune And Fantasy. The in-depth interview sees director Ryusuke Hamaguchi discuss the film’s themes and production.

Following his Cannes Competition title Asako I & II (2018), Hamaguchi continues with the theme of duplication and mirroring of female characters in Wheel Of Fortune And Fantasy.

The film comprises three episodes, each revolving around a woman, which tell stories of an unexpected love triangle, a failed seduction trap, and an encounter that results from a misunderstanding. Kotone Furukawa, Kiyohiko Shibukawa and Fusako Urabe head the cast.

Hamaguchi also co-wrote the screenplay for Kiyoshi Kurosawa’s Wife Of A Spy, which won the Silver Lion at Venice in 2020.
