The second annual Screen UK Marketing & Distribution Awards are now open for entries.
The awards will honour marketing and distribution campaigns and teams for the 12 month period between August 2010 and July 2011. The entry deadline is July 22.
This year the awards will be presented at a gala evening on Sept 27 at the London Hilton on Park Lane.
Last year’s inaugural event met with a strong industry response. Streetdance 3D and Four Lions were among the campaign winners and 20th Century Fox and Sony Pictures Releasing were among the team winners. Lord Puttnam was the chair of the evening and Sir Alan Parker presented Nigel and Trevor Green of Entertainment Film Distributors with the lifetime achievement award.
“The awards clearly found their groove last year by recognizing a sector of the industry which is rarely celebrated,” said Screen editor Mike Goodridge. “Distributors are facing one of the most challenging moments ever to attract audiences out of the home and into theatres to see their films and the Screen Awards acknowledge particularly outstanding strategies and campaigns to achieve that.”
This year, three new categories have been included – one for best campaign for a film in 3D and two for creative agencies, in both print and audiovisual categories. The chair and jury for the awards will be announced in the next few weeks.
