Organisers have already sold 9,000 tickets for the latest Secret Cinema event in London which is due to take place from September 3-5 at an as-yet-undisclosed location.
Of course, the film for September has also not yet been revealed.
The June edition of Secret Cinema – an alternative movie-going experience which was set up by Fabien Riggall of Future Shorts/Future Cinema in 2007 - saw 7,000 people attending screenings of Ridley Scott’s Blade Runner at London’s Canary Wharf. The event grossed $213,000 (£136,000), which would have put it at 11th place in the UK weekly box office chart, if it had been recorded officially.
Previous Secret Cinema screenings have included Wings Of Desire at The Shepherds Bush Pavillion, and Alien at Shoreditch Warehouse.
The event has attracted more than 50,000 friends on Facebook to date and is supported by Windows Phone.
“Secret Cinema is looking to grow the experience and community with every event. Our huge growth in numbers is a protest from our audience to bring the magic back to cinema. Our partnership with Windows Phone has blossomed over the past few events and we are very happy to be continuing to work together,” said Riggall.
