Japanese production and sales company Sedic International has clinched a string of Asian pre-sales on Shin Togashi’s drama Oshin, including a sale to JMD Entertainment for South Korea. 

The film has also gone to Taiwan (Swallow Wings), Hong Kong (Sundream Motion Pictures), Singapore, Malaysia and Indonesia (Encore Films) and Thailand, Myanmar, Laos and Cambodia (Sahamongkolfilm).

Starring Kokone Hamada and Aya Ueto, the film is based on a top-rating TV series that was broadcast in Japan in the 1980s and sold to more than 80 countries.

The film is currently in post-production and will be released in Japan on October 12.
