Tian Zhuangzhuang's The Go Master, Doghead from Spanish filmmaker Santi Amodeo and Yoji Yamada's Love And Honour are among 16 films competing for the Jin Jue Awards (see full line-up below). The nominated films will compete in eight categories and the winning films will be granted preferential status to be imported into the China market by state-owned China Film Group, the only film company allowed to import films from overseas.
During a press conference held in Beijing yesterday, the festival organisers also announced that Chen Kaige will serve as jury president with Spanish director Fernando Trueba as jury vice president. Renowned cinematographer Michael Ballhaus and Chinese filmmaker Lu Chuan are also among the jury members.
The festival, which celebrates its tenth edition this year, will also feature a film market (June 17-19) with more than 100 local exhibitors and 50 international buyers.
It will also feature a projects market - the Co-production Project Forum (June 17-20). According to SIFF managing director Tang Lijune, 58 projects have been submitted to the forum of which eight will be selected for the four-day session.
