Singapore’s Shaw Theatres is set to open the territory’s first digital IMAX screen when it reopens its flagship Lido Cineplex in April next year.
The cinema, located on levels five and six of Shaw House, is closing for renovation on October 1.
“It is a timely makeover for Lido. We had done some minor upgrades over the last decade. When the opportunity came for a complete re-imagining of our Cineplex, we jumped at it,” said Shaw Theatres’ executive vice president of operations Mark Shaw.
The renovated cinema will also feature an addition three screens for a total of 11. Shaw Theatres currently owns and manages five cineplexes with 27 screens across Singapore. An additional 10 screens will open at a site in Serangoon in November 2010.
