EXCLUSIVE: Shoreline Entertainment has acquired worldwide rights to 3D action adventure Captain Nemo, which is scheduled to start shooting in Beijing in August with Hugh Bonneville heading the cast.
Amy Krell and Mark Rudnitsky of Page Four Productions are producing the film with Pearry Teo as director. Krell and Teo previously worked together on SyFy Channel movie Witchville which also filmed in China.
Following on from the Jules Verne classic, 20,000 Leagues Under The Sea, the film follows the lead character Captain Nemo as he battles the evil genius behind a string of naval disasters caused by fantastic, mechanical creatures.
The film will be partially financed by Chinese investors and shoot entirely on stages in Beijing. Nemo’s world will be created with green screen and CGI with LA-based Illuminate Hollywood over-seeing the 3D visual effects.
Shoreline CEO Morris Ruskin and Asia Bridge founder Steve Chicorel will executive produce.
“With its low-cost but highly skilled and creative crews and great studio infrastructure, Beijing’s the perfect home for our production,” said Krell.
