In other major awards handed out at the Atlantis Resort on Paradise Island, Jono Oliver’s Home (US) won the Spirit Of Freedom: Narrative prize and Nicolas Cuellar’s Cast The First Stone (US) took corresponding documentary honours.
The Short Film prize went to Live - Vivre (Guadeloupe-Martinique) from MJ Maharaki while the 2013 BIFF Audience Award was presented to John Burgess’ One Small Hitch (US).
This year the festival showcases 108 films from 32 countries, four features of which are world premieres. Every selection is a Bahamian premiere.
Special sections have included the Youth Film Workshop films put together by five schools as well as a World Cinema showcase spotlighting Chinese films provided by the Chinese Embassy in The Bahamas. The festival runs until December 13.
