Nick Meyer’s Sierra Pictures has acquired international sales rights to Darius Films’ A Beginner’s Guide ToEndings starring Harvey Keitel, JK Simmons and Scott Caan.
Meyer will commence sales in Cannes on the comedy, which is currently in post-production. The producers anticipate a world premiere in Toronto in September.
Director Jonathan Sobol wrote the script about three men who set out to reverse a lifetime of misdeeds in a single day after they learn their recently deceased father’s schemes have doomed them to an early grave.
Darius Films’ Nicholas Tabarrok is producing and Jason Jones, Paulo Costanzo and Tricia Helfer also star
Jeff Sackman brought the project to his former Lionsgate colleague Meyer, who acquired rights after watching early scenes and a promo reel assembled by Sobol and Tabarrok. Sackman and Meyer previously served as president of Lionsgate and head of Lionsgate International, respectively.
Sackman also represented Tabarrok’s Defendor at Toronto 2009 and negotiated a sale to Sony Pictures Worldwide Acquisitions Group. Sony will release the film this week [26].
Meyer launched Sierra last June to focus on independent film finance, production and foreign sales. The company sells and services Sidney Kimmel Entertainment’s library and upcoming slate as well as the Incentive Filmed Entertainment titles.
The slate includes Mother’s Day directed by Darren Bousman and produced by Brett Ratner, Passion Play starring Mickey Rourke and Megan Fox, and Sundance titles Hesher and Sympathy For Delicious.
