Hong Kong-based Celestial Pictures has licensed Singapore video distribution rights to over 500 titles from its Shaw Brothers' film library to Singapore 's Scorpio East under a long-term agreement.

Scorpio East will distribute titles ranging from comedies and martial arts to period dramas and action movies. Key titles include films starring Stephen Chow such as Justice, My Foot! and Out Of The Dark, and the Casino Tycoon series starring Andy Lau.

Released over a period of five years, the titles will be available from today (March 30) in various retail outlets in Singapore, including Carrefour, Discway, Gramophone, HMV, Laser Flair, That CD and TS Video.

The publicly-listed Scorpio East is a leading video distributor of both Chinese- and English-language programmes in Singapore. It is a licensee of Hong Kong's TVB, China's CCTV and Singapore's MediaCorp Studios.

Through a video distribution contract with Buena Vista Home Entertainment, the company has also recently begun distributing products under the labels of Walt Disney Pictures, Touchstone Pictures and Hollywood Pictures.
