The 16th edition of the Cannes Residence is set to welcome six new candidates.
During the four-month session, they will meet with experienced film-makersand industry professionals to help them develop either their first or second feature.
The successful candidates are: Rebecca Daly (Ireland), Nikias Chryssos (Germany), Adrian Sitaru (Romania), Manuel Nieto Zas (Uruguay), Yang Heng (China), and Francisco Vargas Quevedo (Mexico).
Since it was founded in 2000, the Residence program has welcomed more than 90 directors and helped see some 50 films find recognition at international festivals.
Recent success stories include Nadine Labaki's Caramel and Jaime Rosales' La Soledad .
