European DVD and internet subscription service LoveFilm has appointed Nick James as its new Digital Technical Development Director.
James comes from consultancy twocashew (he is not to be confused with the Sight & Sound editor of the same name). Twocashew’s past projects include working with VOD systems in the UK and Germany. Before that, he was head of product development at Sky for 12 years and also worked at the multimedia unit at Natwest.
Lesley Mackenzie, Group Digital Officer at LoveFilm, said: “Nick has a huge amount of experience in the development and deployment of on demand products, as well as a thorough understanding of the strategy needed to successfully activate such projects. His expertise will be an invaluable addition to LoveFilm, especially at this important time of growth for the company’s digital offering”
James added: “LoveFilm has grown from strength to strength and is changing the way people consume film by creating media firsts such as its launch on connected TVs. LoveFilm’s goal is to be available on as many platforms as possible across all territories, so I’m looking forward to being part of its continued development.”
He will work on technical development and also co-ordination of new device platforms, including tech partnerships.
