23rd official Bond mission wins two awards as director Sam Mendes picks up Inspiration award; Sightseers takes home Best British Film.
UK box office smash Skyfall took home two awards at last night’s [March 24] Jameson Empire Awards, held at London’s Grosvenor House.
The 23rd official James Bond mission won Best Film and Best Director for Sam Mendes, who also picked up the Empire Inspiration award.
Among the other winners, The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey scooped Best Sci-Fi/Fantasy Film and Best Actor for Martin Freeman, while Jennifer Lawrence won Best Actress for The Hunger Games and 2012 Screen Stars of Tomorrow Tom Holland and Samantha Barks won Best Male Newcomer and Best Female Newcomer for their roles in The Impossible and Les Misérables, respectively.
Ben Wheatley’s third feature Sightseers won Best British Film, ahead of the likes of Skyfall.
Dame Helen Mirren was awarded the Empire Legend award, while Danny Boyle collected the Empire Outstanding Contribution award.
