Zoran Slavic has been appointed general manager of United International Pictures (UIP) in Sweden.
The move, effective Oct 15, will see Slavic take over management of UIP Sweden from Liv Jacobsen, who has served as general manager for Norway and Sweden since 2005. Jacobsen will remain general manager of UIP Norway.
UIP Sweden handles Universal and Paramount releases in the territory.
Slavic has more than 25 years of experience working in Sweden film from exhibition and distribution to production. This includes 14 years at Columbia Sweden, first as general manager of Columbia Tristar Films and then as general manager for Sony Pictures Releasing Sweden.
Most recently, he consulted on projects including the development of local video-on-demand services and new distribution initiatives in the region.
Slavic also spent a decade at Swedish exhibitor SF Bio, first as cinema manager in charge of the Filmstaden Stockholm and then as sales manager at Svensk Filmindustri, where he worked on the acquisition of independent titles and the distribution of the company’s own locally produced films.
