Su Rynard's Canadian drama Kardia will receive the $25,000 Alfred P Sloan Foundationcash prize at the upcoming Hamptons International Film Festival.
The storycentres on a pathologist who discovers she is linked to another personfollowing an experimental heart operation she underwent as a child.
The Sloan awardis handed out to work that explores science and technology themes in fresh,innovative ways and depicts scientists and engineers in a realistic andcompelling fashion.
Previous Sloanprize winners include Bill Condon's Kinsey,Ryan Esslinger's Madness And Genius, and Michael Apted's Enigma.
The Hamptons InternationalFilm Festival is scheduled to run from Oct 19-23.
