Sony Pictures Television International has signed a deal to acquire all international television, Internet, digital sell-through, gaming and mobile rights to Afterworld.

The futuristic '2.5D' animated project is produced by Stan Rogow and written by video game expert Brent Friedman.

This mark SPTI's first acquisition of across all these platforms.

The deal covers episodic installments for distribution on TV, Internet and mobile outlets. The episodes will be 13 half-hour episodes for broadcasters as well as 130 one-minute episodes and also as two-minute episodes. Web content will be housed on Afterworld.tv.

Afterworld is about a man who has survived a global event that makes most of Earth's population disappear and makes technology useless.

The announcement was made by SPTI's Marie Jacobson, senior vice president, programming and production, international networks and Keith LeGoy, executive vice president, distribution.
