German distributorSplendid Film has acquired German-language rights for a raft of US features currently in postproduction or production.
The Cologne-based company's spending spree at the market in Cannes saw Splendid picking up, among others:
- Joshua Michael Stern's family comedy Swing Vote, starring Kevin Costner, Dennis Hopper and Kelsey Grammer
- Romantic comedy I Hate Valentine's Day with Nia Vardalos and John Corbett, the leads from My Big Fat Greek Wedding
- Thriller Run For Her Life, with Diane Kruger, Dermot Mulroney, and Vincent Perez
- new Steven Seagal action thriller Ruslan by Jeff King
- action film Unshakable with Ving Rhames and Russel Wong
- Pearry Reginald Teo's The Gene Generation, starring Bai Ling and Faye Dunaway
- Gregg Bishop's chiller Dance Of The Dead.
Other Cannes acquisitions by Splendid included the Korean action comedy Dachimawa Lee from Showbox and the out of competition title The Good, The Bad and The Weird from CJ Entertainment.
