Star Chinese Movies and Beijing-based Huayi Brothers have signed a deal under which Huayi will offer the channel exclusive cable TV, pay-per-view and VoD rights to its 2011 upcoming productions for Hong Kong, Taiwan and Singapore.
The deal will include big-budget titles such as Feng Xiaogang’s If You Are The One 2 and the animated film Old Master Q.
Star Chinese Movies previously acquired Huayi’s Aftershock, also directed by Feng, and Detective Dee And The Mystery Of The Phantom Flame. The channel also has exclusive output deals with Media Asia for Hong Kong and Taiwan, and Emperor Motion Pictures for Hong Kong, Taiwan, Singapore and the Philippines.
The channel, which reaches over 10 million viewers each week, also has access to the Fortune Star library with over 750 titles from production houses including China Star and Golden Harvest and defunct studios Golden Princess and D&B.
